so not bc u were unhappy w/ the s50?

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

even though its only .2 "better", the .2 comes from a longer stroke.....where as the s50 seems a little rev happier......the s52 feels more torque in the low end. i will be interested to hear your review.

The S50 is sounding like it will do the job for me. I'd prefer a more rev happy motor plus the fact that I wouldn't need to do an OBD 1 conversion unlike the S52 which would need that.

oh, but that low end torque is soooooo addictive on the street. no waiting or downshifting. if its at 3k, just squeeze the trigger and obliterate traffic.

besides, the obd1 conversion is really easy. metal water hose / or adapter, drill / tap new water temp sensor hole, modify valve cover breather hose.....then just throw on all the obd1 sensors / harness and junk. done.

            cheers, jason

wow, i thought it was more involved than that. so you tap the hole in the existing s52 manifold or use a s50 manifold? also isnt the m50 manifold an upgrade to both of those? excuse my e36 ignorance.

New temp sensor hole gets tapped into the head - and you can use the metal obd2 coolant pipe with a little work to the carrier for the wiring harness. x50 manifold is an upgrade. Valve cover modificaton is to use the obd1 harness impluse leads to the coilpacks.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

Just to clarify things [since I have gotten a couple IM's and PM's] there is nothing wrong with my car. The motor did not blow, the timing belt did not snap, etc. The car is seen mounted on a tow truck thanks to a old alternator belt that finally let go, it was fixed the same day. SO ya, this topic has nothign to do with that.

The 3.2 is better than the 3.0 in just the way Jason described. Cruising around town, not having to rev out, 'squeeze the trigger and pull at 3k' is a very good way to put it.

In a drag race where you're not under 4k, 3.0 and 3.2 are very close IMO, unless the 3.2 gets a small jump off the start (which would make it difficult for the 3.0 to catch AND pass).
Alex's 3.2 built similarly to mine was no faster in a 10-100 pull

BUT the experience is different from a turbo car. i prefer NA over the high maintenance turbo car
Ah, I miss my car! Looks fantastic! Glad the motor is pulling well, I admit I wasn't easy on it.
