    Questions re: my E30/M50 -> S52 conversion

    I just picked up a '90 325is with an M50 in it. I have an S52 and ZF trans from an M Roadster that I am planning on swapping into the car. I was originally planning on just keeping things OBD1 but it seems that a lot of folks have switched to OBD2 for swaps like these. If I want to go OBD2, what are the things I need to be aware of? More specifically, what OBD2-specific parts might I need to make this as seamless as possible? I'm assuming I need a newer ECU and the harness but would I also need things like 2 additional O2 sensors, etc? Lastly, is it worth it to make the effort to go OBD2? I would think diagnostics capabilities alone would be a huge benefit...

    Any insight or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Harness, ecu, 2 sets of o2's, secondary air pump which you can delete or keep. Ccv separator is different and drains into dipstick tube and pan, you'll need ews deleted with the new ecu and harness. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I would definitely go Obd2

      I have a m52 turbo swap so I just opted to delete all the emissions stuff I could.

        Thanks for the info. Can I just delete the need for the additional O2 sensors via chip, as well?

          I have the rear o2s deleted and coded out and I'm only running one primary o2 but my car is turbo and has a custom Downpipe

              Thanks for the replies.

              Another question: Can I use any E36 OBD2 ecu since there will be a custom chip or do I need to go ahead and grab an S52 ecu?

                We can flash any OBD2 ecu to S52 specs.
