    Help swap won't fire

    I'm doing a m50b25tu in a 84 318i.

I can't seem to get it to fire up.
I'm getting spark(though I don't know how strong the spark needs to be)
With the front hose taken off the rail I have alittle fuel come out when I first take it off.
When I key on nothing, but when I crank fuel dumps from the line so I'm getting fuel.
I put a multi meter on the injector plug and as I can I can watch voltage shot though it (about 5vts but I assume my cheap multi meter can't read it fast enough)

    Any ideas?

are your fuel lines on the correct way? it's pretty common to reverse them accidentally. FPR allows flow in only one direction.

What kronus said. Both times i installed my engine. I crossed the lines. Flip them and see if that fixes it.

I put the fuel hose that comes from the fuel filter on the nipple closest to the radiator, the return on the back closest to the firewall

            that's the correct way

when you key on the ECU is supposed to prime the fuel lines, but it sounds like that's not happening. is the ECU known functional? how is your C101/X20 wired?

It's not priming with key on, but I tossed the ecu in a buddy's e36 this morning and it starter just fine.

My c101 to x20 i adapted my self
I have a rectangle c101 but here is what I did
              C101................ X20
              Pin1.................pin 25
              Pin2.................pin1
              Pin3 empty
              Pin4.................pin12
              Pin5 empty
              Pin6.................pin22
              Pin7.................pin13
              Pin8.................pin18
              Pin9 empty
              Pin10...............pin21
              Pin11-14 empty
              Pin15................pin2
              Pin16................pin23
              Pin17................pin7

Then on the x20 I have pin24 going to the yellow/white wire on c104 and pin20 going the the black wire on c104
Green wire on c104 is empty

I also am working on a square connector to 24v adapter. here's what I came up with:

and here's the transformations needed to adapt an early body plug to a S50 harness

I would adapt the body to a male X20, but the amount of pins that would go unused bothers me, so sticking to a C101. new pins are on their way from BMW, and a DIY on packing an S50 harness into an M42 harness housing will be forthcoming.
                I see a couple differences..

most notably, your X20 pin 7 (OBC immobilization function) should not be attached to anything, that will make the ECU not start the car.

                  Alright I changed
                  C101 pin 15 to now x20 15
                  Pin17 to pin 19
                  Pin 2 to pin2
                  Pin 6 isn't connected on the c101
                  Still no fire.

I found I was using a m60 wiring sheet when I made the adapter. So thanks for helping me on that.

you'll need to connect 8 and 14 eventually (CEL and VSS), but it should start without them. I'd go over the connector again.

also, does the ICV vibrate with the key in the ON position? does the car crank?

Car cranks strong, idle valve buzzes when key is in on pos.
If I unplug the fuel line and click the key from on to off over and over I don't get that pump priming the line, but when I crank it's getting a good amount of fuel.

What does VSS do for my cluster? I thought speed was from the diff and tach is coming in from c104

if the pump is not priming, your ECU is not turning on. If the ECU is not turning on, it won't fire the injectors. You can verify this by cranking it for a while, pulling a plug and seeing if it's covered in fuel.

edit: check that the secondary power wire in the power relay block has +12V. If the fusible link blew, it won't have power, and the ECU draws all of its power from that.

What turns on the gives power to the ecu? Main relay?

Also I cranked it for awhile and pulled a plug, didn't smell fuel. So that must be the issue
