I believe so. I know there are some dme 413s that dont have the ews communication though(red/burgundy colored one).

are you planning to do some swappin'?

All silver labels have ews. I made that mistake.

One must have the red label/burgandy tag ecu ending in 413.

Otherwise i heard you can chip the silver tag ecu and it will work.
I believe markD makes a chip and I know turner does.

I am way deep in my s50 swap but i have an extra dme and i want to know more about it when i sell it. I might just sell my red lable and buy a chip. Thanks guys

You can also use the red label 506 DME, which is what I'm going to use on my S50 swap.

My chipped silver label 506 does not require/use/support ews.

my pics would just have an empty engine bay. My motor should be done getting rebuilt in a few days so i will start making things look pretty again.

Any tuner has a chip that'll disable EWS on the silver label. It's not even an issue anymore.

BS. I have a silver label 413 DME and it doesnt. Only silver label 413 DME's with a build date of 12/94 and up have EWS.

Will the engine even crank if the EWS is present or will you just get nothing when you turn the key?

Is the VIN listed on the DME? If it has a 2/93 build date, then you don't have EWS.

From what I've heard, the engine will crank but no spark. However you also get that if something else is wrong.
