What wires can be removed from a e36 OBD1 harness?

I'm working on my m50 swap in a Volvo 240, and I want to thin the harness as much as possible.

I know I can remove transmission wiring, what else can I removed to thin it out and still keep the engine running proper?

I also want to know if heat shrink butt connectors are ok or solder?

I have been reading that heat shrink butt connectors or marine connectors would be better then solder in this situation since they will be less prone to breaking form vibrations like solder would be.

I wouldn't solder, the heat causes brittle wires.

There isn't too much that you can remove really. The M50 is very "stand alone" and everything is used pretty much. You can delete the big power cable that supplies the E36 fuse box because (like the e30) I'm assuming your car will feed the fuse box another way.
