e34 pan with built-in windage tray on s52?

    Hi everyone,

I'm in the middle of an s52 swap and I wanted to clarify whether it's OK to use the e34 oil pan with the built in windage tray. I came across this thread where the crank was hitting the m50b25 windage tray. From what I understand, this occurred because the pan was the variant without the built in windage tray, so the m50 style that mounts to the bottom of the block was used.

I asked my friend with an s52 car if he used the pan with the built-in windage tray and he thinks so, and hasn't had any issues, but can't confirm. I test fitted the pan to the block and rotated the crank several times and didn't hear anything contacting but want to double check with people who have s52 cars if it's ok to use the pan I have.

    Thanks,

    Joey

Yep mine's doing fine as well. You can always do a test out of the car by installing it and turn the crank by hand to see if you hear anything making contact

I ended up installing the pan, rotated the engine by hand and didn't hear anything, so all seems to be well. Can't wait to get the motor back into the car :)

Good luck man! The s52 is a great engine in these cars!

The built in tray e34 pan fit's fine. It's the e34 pan with the bolt in tray that doesn't clear the S52 crank, ask me how I know...
