Like the title says. My buddy has a s52 (complete engine + harness) but it needs a complete rebuild. He said is was low on power/compression. I'm not too knowledgeable on m5x/s5x motors and was wondering what a fair price for a s52 in this condition would be. Any help appreciated. Thanks

really depends on whats wrong with it/why it needs a rebuild. Many things can cause low compression. Good news if it runs enough to know that. I just took apart a motor (non bmw) that had oil issues and the head and crank were done, whereas I've taken apart motors that only need piston rings, a head clean up and were good to go. The basic question is how much machine work does it need and how many important parts need to be replaced? If its not siezed or has had valve to piston contact, id go up to maybe $750?
