The diameter measured is the OD of the tube I believe. It's the correct one.
It came in my $250 Matco Tool set.
So you guys think the treehouse wiring adapter is clean?

Another way to make a pin tool is to go buy a telescoping radio antenna (like one from an old transistor radio), and take it apart into individual sections. This gives you a nice variety of sizes, one of which will be perfect. I don't know if anybody mentioned it before, but in my case, I needed to tap on the pin tool with a small hammer to drive the pins out. No damage at all, but I was surprised that it took anything more than a little push to get them out.

Guys, I just threw this tool together using an old pic tool handle and a piece of 3/16 brake line.
I opened up the inside of the brake line with a drill bit, ground down the outside of the brake line a bit, using a bench mounted belt sander and spinning the line in a drill.. and hammered the line into the handle.. cheap easy and it works!
My POS computer will only let me upload one of the pics i took of the toolLeave a comment:

Thats nice, but really. When someone wants to save say 150.00. They could just grab a bolt, drill it out and use that. I will measure mine and even take a video on how it works if I need to.i cant believe no one replied with this....i am using Greg's adapter and that shit fired right up first time and has ran like a champ since...not so much as a hick-up
try and find 150 shipped elsewhereLeave a comment:

i did this exact same thing, i chopped the x20 out all together, using only the C101, added afew more pins(PFL car with C104) and ran everything neatly through the 1 C101 connector in stock location beside the fuse box, then i got the M42 wire coverings and put the diag connector in that spot.. very clean, and i did it all with a punch and some plyers... no special toolsLeave a comment:

Thats just crazy right there.
I bought pins from the dealer for about 1.00 each at most. Then I also got the connector for 6.00 and out the pins onto the E36 wires and pluged them into my c101 with no problem. car runs great.
I had to switch a pin around but I didnt need any special tool.
A drill bit and a bolt was all.
I will post photos of my tool later...Leave a comment:

Next time read the first 4 posts of the thread before replying... :Dguys, there is a simpler / cleaner way.
just go buy a new c101.
use a pin tool to remove the pins out of the x20.
put the pins (with wires still attached) into you new c101.
no cutting, no soldering, no crimping.
however, you will need to do your homework and have a GOOD c101 chart. if your not 100% sure of your wiring, DONT do it this way.
