    E30 CSB for 24v swap?

Hey r3v, I'm wondering what the reasoning behind using "reversed" e30 csb is when using a zf transmission and a 328i driveshaft?

I am having a lot of trouble removing the old csb and I don't want to bother if there is not a reason behind it, they look the same to my eye.

    Insight is appreciated!

Same direction. It just mounts to the back half of the driveshaft where as the e30 it mounts to the front. Or vise versa can't remember. Use the csb from whatever year e30 you have and it goes on in the same orientation.

this is correct. just make sure you put it on the right way so the driveshaft isn't all offset and shitty

Actually it needs to be offset to wirk properly ;) But yeah as said before, install the csb in the way it was with e30 driveshaft. E36 driveshaft has the joint on the different side of the bearing, so you won't be able to use the dust shield.

The front of the CSB still points to the front of the car, it just installs on the "opposite" side of the two-piece driveshaft.

Thanks for the insight everyone. So do I need to swap around the backing plate and the forward dust shield?

              I didn't use either.

Get a driveshaft and the correct csb for the year of your car and take it to Drivelines NW in sodo. They can R&R the csb for ~$30.
