What cams work in S52?

Specifically exhaust cam. Can I use the cams from an m52 or? Other options? Will this cause a loss in power? Have a lot of wear on my exhaust cam and looking for other options for replacement. Have seen many threads in my searches for S52 cams in S50, M5x etc.

M52 cams has less duration and lift than S52 cams. So yes you will have power loss with those. New s52 cams are not that expensive from bmw so why not buy new ones? And with little bit more, you vould get more agressive aftermarket cams.

But talkin about other options, you could use s50us exhaust cam, or use m52 exhsust cam and regrind it to s52 specs(or close). And you could also get m50 non-vanos intake cam, take 2mm off the sprocket mounting surface and use that as exhaust cam (you need to degree that in with dial gauge).

New S52 cams are almost $600 a piece. That's pretty expensive to me.

Oh yeah those seem to go up in price quite a bit. I bought mine for 300 about year or two ago. Maybe because e36 is now in classic section for bmw parts.
