    e30 s52 or IE 3.2 kit

I'm caught on a fence. I can get my hands on a s52 complete with tranny and all parts for the same price I can get the IE 3.2l stroker kit. Is the performance going to be the same. IE's website says it will be the same. I would figure the amount of $$ for machine work on my M20 would be the same as the parts I need for the conversion. Having said that and the end I'll be left with a M20 motor that's at it's max capabilities N/A or I'll have a E36 motor that coud still have possibilites down the road.

    Just looking for some opinions.

    Thanks

No way would it be the same. The peak HP might be, but the powerband wouldn't. The M20 bored/stroked to that degree would be so stressed too. S52 100%.

If you're a total purist, stay with m20. Otherwise, definitely get an obd 1 s52. You will be MUCH happier in the end IMO. S52 has a TON more power potential and will be a lot smoother. Although, the only thing to really consider is how many miles are on the s52 and how long will it last? How many problems will you have with it? I think it will be fine though. Just make sure you replace all the hard to get to gaskets and what not on the s52 and do regular maitenence when you get it.

        Will

the twincam motor is light years ahead of the m20 in terms of refinement, technology and performance capability. definitely go 24v.

            +1

            Doing it right now myself.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.
