    e30 s50 1/8th mile time

I was at the track the other day and ran an 8.6 consistently trapping 83.63mph not bad for only my second time at the track . These times were based off a 2.0 60 ft

By the way i installed my 3.25 LSD which helped alot but with the 14" rims and 60 sidewalls it still lets me top out at about 160mph . A 3.46 might might be n the near future but i forgot which car has it that direct bolt in for the e30 .

Still have my same mods ebay chip and intake, stock obd1 midsection with cats

Not bad, I think Stu was trapping 8.5 at 80mph.

3.46 is a direct bolt on, says theeurodepot. I'm really just going by their pictures, they only seem to list compatible difs in the each section.

Why not invest in a quality chip? A friend of mine just sold his Ebay for a Conforti, his car was noticebly faster, and sounded fucking nasty. I absolutely love the sound of 92' M50s, they just scream.

Well when stu went to the track i bet he wasnt on stock basketweaves nonetheless it was 85 degrees at night when i ran and got wheel hop in second gear. You have a good point with the chip though my turner chip was a world of difference in my e36 M3 .

That's a great time, a lot of speed too. I'll bet your motor makes a lot of power.
Mine runs about the same with slipping the clutch at 3500ish rpm's. With no launch, it takes off about .5s.

3.25? I assume you have an E36 gearbox?

Yep 3.25 on the ZF works like a champ. Too bad we dont have a readily available 3.3x rear end. The power, i am not sure but im guessing around 220rwhp.My launches were not perfect i have a clutch stop and just got real close to engagement at about 3k rpms and then let her rip.

PS. I tucked my mirrors back to try to negate the flying brick effect.

Stu: Which cars have the 3.46 that drop in for e30's ?

The e28's have the good diffs. I dont remember witch one is witch but the 528 and 535 have the .25 and .46 ratios

              i think me 3.46 came from an e28 528e. I'd like a 3.25 also though. For a daily driver 3.25 is better I think

I think 3.46 only came in '88 528e (super eta) automatics. Can anyone confirm? Mitch? Jason?

Yeah the 3.46 came in the late 528e automatics , LSD was an option .

The 3.25 can be found in E28 533's and 535's , LSD was standard on the "is" while an option on the rest .

                      yep, agreed.

when i had the 3.46 installed (still sitting in the garage) i would RIP through the gears (and tires) WAY too quick. 80mph was a little over 4k rpm. Since its supposto be a civil daily driver, i compromised with the 3.25. cheers, jason

I wanted to do the 3.38 that the e36 guys do but that looks like a no go.

Im running the 3:25lsd with a E36 trans

Great for DD/highway. 3:43 would be a lil too short IMO.

Removed from an E28, one has to remove the "ears" flanges that axles bolt to. Swap those with the ones off of your diff. They are interchangable as well as the rear cover. Change the rear cover and flanges, bolt it up and you are good to go.

3.23 is also readily available from an m coupe or m roadster. You can easily get them for $250-$300, that's a fair price.

My 3.46 is the only thing that allows me to keep up with Jason's car...maybe.
