Midas says exhaust can't be made!

I towed my car in to midas yesterday with my e30 m3 exhaust and told them to just make a down pipe to connect the two. I am useing the standard m50 e36 manifold and they told me that they can't do it, its to tight! Have any of you had this problem? They told me that they would try but it would cost 300 dollars just to make the 18" section and install hang the exhaust! They also do not want to keep the x-pipe, I told them they had to, is it worth keeping it? I also told them to go ahead and try, I'll find out at 2:30 wether it worked or not.

My thoughts exactly! Are there no performance exhaust shops in your area?

You're getting ripped on now! Should of not mentioned Midas...

It sounds like you're trying to connect up the m50 headers to the s14 down-pipe, cat and rear muffler? I can imagine that it may not work - or could be difficult. I don't know if anyone has actually tried this.

I'm using s50/m50 headers connected to a stock e36 obd i cat and midsection. After the e36 mid-pipe, I had a custom section made to mate up with a s14 Borla - stock s14 muffler should work just as well.

Find yourself a e36 obdi/ii cat and midsection and you might have a lot less problems.

Just buy mandrel bends from ebay if all you need are bends. Most shops are not equipped with hyraulic mandrel benders (i.e. constant internal diameter).

It all worked out, the total was 300 but there were some really hard bends he had to make. He started at 8:00 this morning and just finished it at 5:30 so I'm satisfied with the price. I'll post some pictures when I get it back to the house.

you should have got obd2 midpipes and cut the cat off and hooked the xpipe onto it shouldn't have cost 300bucks
