Euro ITBs on a US S5X engine?

First off, hey everyone. Long time listener, first time poster. I am new to this forum, but not the e30 community.

I have read a lot of great information here, and am looking forward to starting an S5X swap in my '87 cabrio in the next 3-6 months or so. The plan is to buy as complete a motor as possible and do the bulk of the work myself. (I am fortunate; my e30 is not a daily driver so it may be up on blocks for weeks or months at a time.)

My question is, does anyone know if it would be possible to fit the Euro Individual Throttle Bodies onto a US motor? I like the power that the Euro motor makes, but I live in California and could probably never get it to pass emissions without OBD equipment.

I know that it's not a direct fit, and several things will need to be modified (head, manifold, software, throttle cable, etc.). I'm not so much concerned about the things on the intake side of the ITBs (intake/MAF to plenum). Standalone software could be used as well. What about the head? Could the US head be port matched to fit, or is it a completely different setup?

Thanks in advance for the input!
    Matt

the head is completely different, you will only gain about 10rwhp, but huge improvement in throttle response, look here for what is required

Thanks for the link. The throttle response would be excellent, but... after seeing the drawing of the adapter required, this looks like a "phase 2 S5X swap" adventure. ;)

ive had my eye on the dblias ITB's even before i got an m50....that will
one day for sure be going on my m50...its so much better than getting the euro intake cause dont u need to do some alpha N conversion and shit? and i see the dblias ITB's uses the stock MAF which saves headaches IMO

The Euro M3 also uses MAF. The ITBs feed drom a common chamber which gets air from the airbox/filter via the MAF.
