S50 surging idle, no throttle code 1281

    Hey guys,

My s50 swap was running great for the last 30k miles once I got the speed sensor hooked up. I suddenly the engine started surging in and out of gear from 2500-500 RPMs. Sometimes the car would die, crank for awhile, then start surging, then run completely fine. It seems like the problem is intermittent but rears it ugly head more often when the car is warm. I am getting code 1281 control unit memory supply voltage.

I am seeing ~14V even when the car is sputtering a surging so I think my alternator is ok. I got a new silver sticker DME and put my TMS chip in it and it seems to do the same thing.

    What could this be? Thanks

    Tom

I was able to clear the 1281 code by driving it for a while. The car started to buck after a few minutes and got a 1243 crankshaft position sensor code. I hope that sensor is the problem. Do those sensors get dirty or is there a way to clean them?

Just replaced crankshaft position sensor. The problem persists and I still get code 1243. What could it be?
