    1995 M50 525I OBD1 conversion on S52 Q'S

    Hey all, question that ive researched but found no answers,

    will the 0bd1 manifold with m50 throttle body work or is it too restrictive? do i need the s52 unit or is the obd1 swap done manifold only in most cases due to already having an s52 tb already installed on car?

    thanks

    I dont even know what your question is, nothing you said makes sense.

      m50 manifold w/ tbody. the obd2 electrical items (like the tps on tbody) dont work with obd1. when doing an obd1 conversion on an s52.....change everything with an electrical connector (except for vanos controller, temp senders for e36chassis.)

        sorry you cant understand a simple question, what im asking is....

        i have a complete 1995 525i m50 harness, manifold, throttle body, everything associated as well, if bolted to a s52 will the m50's throttle body work, or do i need an s52 unit, to be used for an s52-obd1 conversion....

        let me know if you need it explained again...

          so jason, i need to use all e36 sensors? i cannot use everything i pulled off a used engine i put into a customers car? the 525i sensors will not work? are different output ranges?

          im getting a long block s52 to go with all the stuff I removed off complete engine to use as longblock for customer car, so all obd1 525i sensors were kept for my usage

            If you are doing an OBDI conversion you need all OBDI stuff from your m50. All the wiring, sensors, and the whole intake system. So yes, you use the m50 maniifold and m50 TB.

            The m50 intake manifold is much less restrictive than the s52, many people who retain the OBDII will put a m50 intake manifold on to move some more air.

              so i guess what ive been asking this whole time is something far simpler than ive already asked.

              "Is the M50 TB the same bore as the S52 TB?"

              "Will the M50 TB not be an intake system restriction, as i will be using 3.5 or 540i air meter, as well on this conversion?"

                I dont know about the bore sizes but you have to use the M50 TB in an OBDI conversion, restriction or not its the only option you have.

                  then how do people convert an e36-s52 to obd1 and use the s52 TB, sounds to me that m50 TB is not the only option?

                    sigh.....
                    where's the dead horse.

                    your not making any sence. i will try to make this ssimple.

                    s52 = (96-99)3.2l longblock w/ obd2 engine management / electronics........keep the engine, dump the wires and sensors.

                    m50 = (92nv, 93-95) 2.5l longblock w/ obd1 engine management / electronics........dump the engine, keep the wires and sensors.

                    so........the m50 or s50 (obd1) throttle body is the only one that will work with the obd1 electronics.

                    not sure you understand. the obd2 will not work. the tbody has a different throttle position sensor.

                    you can spend the extra dough and get a bigbore (obd1 from an m50 or s50) but i doubt you will notice much gains until you do other things.
