    m50 exhaust manifold's

I noticed once I finally got m50 mounted to the sub frame the front exhaust manifold was VERY close to the sway bar, subframe & motor mount.

My exhaust guy told me it was a little difficult because it was so close.

I also noticed that the rear manifold was shorter then the front.

So my question is, Would it have been possible to switch the front and back manifold's so they have a bit more clearence? Or is the front manny to long to fit in the back?

i thought about doing it but when i visualized it in my head i would end up with another problem. I have the obd2 manifolds, and i think it would have caused another clearance issue, probably with the firewall

Yea, I sort of realized it wouldn't work after I posted. But oh well.

I believe treehouse touts this problem as a reason to use their eyeball cabs. having problems getting to their item description to check. seems familiar though.

You're having this problem with OBDI manifolds? Jesus, can't imagine what you'd be saying if you had the OBDII ones (which I hope you do). OBDII ones nearly kiss the subframe, but you can still can an exhaust system installed, it's just a tight fit.

Yea I have OBD-I manifolds. They are SO close.

I would rather get headers then the OBD2 manifolds.

EDIT: Which headers are the best to get for m50 e30's?

Maybe two front manifolds would work? probably would end up touching the firewall/transmission tunnel area so n/m.

Over here, RHD cars can only use the OBD-2 manifolds as it needs to clear the steering shaft. The manifolds need to be cut and weld to get it to clear the firewall and steering shaft. For LHD cars, either manifolds can be used, but the OBD 1 manifold are alot heavier

If I was to do this, I would get the car refereed with the stock manifold. After you get the sticker, I would change, then when you go to smog, you can just say that, on the referee said they were fine :)
