    No o2?

    Some how my o2 sensor connector unscrewed itself from the harness and broke hitting the ground, so now I can't keep them connected without tape or and new o2 sensor.

    My question is, I just drove 2 1/2 hours north with no o2 sensor. Is this a problem? Am I running my motor to rich? Will my cat be owned? I plan on fixing this when I get home.

          Should be sweet cuz.

          When I did my swap a year ago I didn't even connect mine up at all. only in the last couple of months had I even learnt about a o2 sensor. My car runs fine as all the time.. No cat just straight through exhaust as we don't have emissions control in NZ

                      wouldn't not having a functioning o2 sensor spew more fuel into the chamber and foul out the spark plugs?

                          Yea, I'm pretty sure your motor isn't supposed to be running in closed-loop all the time. It's too rich.

                              What do you mean my ( running in closed loop?)\

                              I'm running custom extractors with 2 1/2" stainless exhaust
                              Custom induction and chip....

                              I haven't even seen a wire that comes off the loom for the o2 sensor??

                                  The DME needs the O2 sensor to determine if the engine is running lean or rich and then takes this signal and makes the proper adjustments.

                                  If you are running without an O2 sensor, you are running in open loop, which is usually very rich and reserved for cold start conditions when the O2 sensor is not heated up completely. It has nothing to do with your exhaust setup.

                                  Running without an O2 sensor probably won't damage your engine, but it will eventually damage your cats. It may seem like your engine is running perfect, but it's not because you are not taking advantage of the ability of the DME to make corrections.

                                  Do you have access to a wide-band O2 sensor (e.g. LM-1)? I'm curious to see what AFR's you'll see without an O2 sensor.

                                  The wire for the O2 sensor is a 4-prong round screw-on connector that is on the same portion of the loom as the back-up light connector (2-pin connector).
