    Euro Motor Fuel Pump??

Is anyone NOT using the stock fuel pump? If so, what brand and is it a direct fit?

My concern is that the stock pump is not equipped to handle the pressure and high RPMs generated by the Euro motor. A sudden "leaning out" @ near 8K RPMs could be disastrous. Opinions?

If you are using the S50B30 Euro motor, you will be fine with the standard E30 pump. If using the S50B32 motor, you will need a different pump, as the motor runs a 5 bar fuel pressure regulator (instead of 3 bar on the S50B30).

I used the pump from a Euro M3 on my S50B32, and with a little work will mount on the standard E30 pump frame.

Ian, could you describe "a little work"? I am installing a Euro 3.2 soon and am interested in learning a bit more about the modification necessary to make it fit.

            Mike,

The main difference between the S50B32 pump and the E30 pump is the length. It's not possible to use the E30 push fit coupling to connect the pump to the pipe on the E30 frame, so you need to use a short length of rubber fuel hose and a couple of clamps. You also need to trim the pipe in the frame as it's a bit long.

You also need to trim the metal 'foot' on the E30 pump frame to allow the end of the S50 pump to fit properly. You then basically zip tie the S50 pump to the E30 frame and you are ready to go.

Here's a picture of an S50 pump on an E30 frame (not mine). On mine, I retained some of the rubber pad at the bottom of the pump frame, and also fitted some rubber buffers between the pump and the frame to help stop any pump noise from transmitting into the car.

            Ian.
