    Install a TACH RPM, where on s50 conversion

    Guys I need your help here, since the dash RPM on my M3 readings are off because of the s50 engine, I am thinking of installing an RPM tachometer so I know the right RPM for the e36M3 engine..can anyone tell me where to tap the wire from the RPM?

    Is it about 210º range on the oil temp gauge or did you change out the coding plug?

    I would steer clear of adding an extra tach... North Hollywood Speedo can hook you up or there is another addon you can get, but I forget what its called.

    But run a search, the answer is around here somewhere.

      get in touch with Rev Engineer

      he had a cool outboard rev meter converter that will work with the 8k M3 tach,

      since its Winter, i think he maybe hibernating......

        Placed a coding plus from a 1989 325i, RPM reading OK now, idles around 800.

        Engine sounds what it should be on the correct rpm's

            Your tach is still wrong. The 325i coding plug is for 7k rpm tach, so when you put it in your M3 tach 7k rpm will read as 8k rpm. You need to modify the rpm signal if you want to keep the M3 cluster.

              I did notice that, but the M3 8k rpm looks cool- I also have white and red face guage-putting the black 325i face would look funny.

              I rshift and redline at 7,200 rpm, which registers around 6,700 rpm (325i)

                as i said earlier, try and get an outboard converter from Rev engineer, it corrects the tach and has some cool things it can do
