    Timing chain tensoner spring

    Does the chain tensioner in the head between the cams have a spring in it? Mine does not and I'm not sure if I lost it or it never had one, its part number 7 on the link, thanks the engine is a m50 by the way.

    Yes it should. It sould be pushing up.
    It might be broken. The spring for that tensioner can't be bought sepperately.

        Think I could start the engine with out the spring in place? It will still be under tension from the oil pressure.
