    I'm in the middle of fabricating my trasmission crossmember, for those of whom are using the getrag 260, did you have this problem as well, and what did you do? For a while there, my motor wasn't sitting strait, and now it is but the shifter carrier isn't hardly close to lining up.



    and what is the shiny gold thing in the middle of this picture used for on the trani?

    yup looks like mine. My bent shifter fixed that! :)

        k thanks...

        also, is your driveshaft perfectly strait, cuz mine isn't... the front half of the driveshaft is aimed to the passenger side a little bit.

          my pass side engine mount (e28 535), I can rotate (it is offset), which I did to change the angle of the driveshaft so it was perfect.

            you'll need to get the longshaft sitting at a proper angle and straight if you don't want any issues later on, else you may experience vibrations

            then you adjust the motor mounts and fabricate the gearbox mount, then start with the shifter mounts and angles

                Thanks for helping me before, but now I have a new problem with the trani. There is a wire coming out of the side of it, and I have it coming out to the engine bay... I need to know where it goes. Thanks.

                  The wire is for your headlight fluid.

                  j/k, it's for your reverse light switch. I don't remember for sure, but i think it feeds up through the shift console.

                    Yea, there shoudl be a connector under your center console for that plug. Reverse lights.

                      It's your reverse light switch-I think it goes to a connector inside the car. I don't know exactly where though. Maybe by the center console?

                        my shift lever is off to the side like that too. I've put the motor/trans in my car twice. The first time it lined up perfectly and was dead center. The second time (the way it is now) the intake manifold is now touching my brake booster and the shift lever is right where yours is. I have a ZF e36 trans though. I'm going to try to adjust it all this weekend if things go my way.

                          You've got the X3 shifter or whatever, right? Is it pre bent or did you customize it?
