    M50/M52 Swap

    Guys,

I am at the tail-end of my engine swap (for the last 3 mths :) ) and have been baffled by one thing. How in the world do you guys install your engine, and manage to use the engine fan? I have a Spal Slim fan, about 2.25 inches, and it does not fit. I have no space.

The engine is already pretty much almost resting by the firewall but the fan has no space. Help please!!!

I must have done something wrong/different/silly during my swap. I can say this however, the darn connector for the engine fan (on the engine, the little nut thing) is in my way.....but even if I were to cut it off, I would not be able to fit the fan.

    Any ideas?

It sounds like you're trying to use it as a puller and the thread for the engine driven fan is getting in the way correct? Post a pic of your clearance, I think it just may be too thick.

You could use it as a pusher in front of the radiator instead of a puller. That would probably solve your problem.

I'm using the factory aux fan (in front of the radiator) with euro mounts that eliminate the A/C condenser.

Remove the engine fan/fan clutch assembly and a 2.25" slimline should fit.

See post #122 - http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...t=71682&page=9 - Vlad has an electric fan on the engine side of the radiator with his euro 3.2.

Which mounts are the euro mounts exactly?

Got to www.realoem.com input a euro e30 m3, go to "radiator", then "additional fan". Don't know if this link will work: http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...73&hg=17&fg=10
