just slap it on out of the car. I dont see a big reason to keep it off.

i did mine with the intake manifold off since its cake to get to and may or may not interefear with the brake booster on its way in and would complicate the instalation around the blower motor cover its way easier to manipulate the wiring harness with it out as well

Ok thats sounds reasonable i could see the the wirring harness is a pain to even move around by its self let alone in the bay

I suggest taking the manifold off and wiring harness off. It will help you learn to diagnose in the long run. You also get to replace a bunch of vac. hoses and gaskets.

I've done it both ways. Seems easier to take the manifold off.

I would leave it on lol, its a real PITA getting the fuel system hooked up and the new intake manifold on when its in, there is NO ROOM against the firewall to bolt stuff up easily, it can be done, but its easier if its already on.

If I did it again, I would put the intake manifold on the engine then drop it in, at the same time I would take the fuel rail off and hook that up, then bolt that to the intake manifold when the engine is in. It took me about a solid hour just to hook up 1 fuel line, just because I had to work all by feel and there was very very little room to wedge my hand back there.

Good point it, seems there are pros and cons of doing this both ways
thanks for the help guys. Im still debating, the last post makes a good point that there is notmuch room at the back of the fir wall to do much but then again if its already on it makes it hard to hook up the booster and stuff.

If you put it in with the manifold, definately dont do it with the booster in. You'll never ever get the heater core hose on.

Ok so really it just a matter of what you want in there first the booster or the manifold bolted on. In your guys view is it harder to get the booster all set up with the manifold all in. Or would it be harder the pu the booster in then try and get the fuel rail in there with the inject. and harness clips and what not it.???

mount your booster and bolt EVERYTHING onto the m50 engine. reseal EVERY seal, double check every connection, check / replace all hoses, put fuel lines on, headers on......now its time to install the engine.

your back can get really sore leaning over an engine bay ffor 3 hours bolting up wires, hoses, misc.

wow, i thought taht was easy putting on the intake manifold..i have taken it on and off a few times with the engine in the car, no sweat.

Thanks man i might try that if your sayign ti can all be done at once if you bolt the booster in first and hook every thing to the engine and then drop it in. Thanks again guys im getting colse, just need the cam and crank sensor i belive and a power steering pump. Got the engine from a friend that took every thing from the engine for and OBD1 s52 swap so im left with the basics. Pretty much jsut block internals and head every thing else i have had to buy not fun.
