    ORCA online

Well I got fed up with not being able to use the shitty orca CD on windows XP (rushing to read what I needed before it crashed). So I ported the CD over to a website. Any if you guys that paid for a copy, feel free to check it out, I think it's a lot more usable, and you can actually search the text. I'll add a search feature later that will search all pages.

Props for what you're trying, but I give this a snowball's chance of staying open any length of time.

Why did your copy conflict w/ XP?

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

It's up to them, if they ask me to take it down I will make it private. But I'm being clear that it's not my material and it's up as a personal backup, and I only condone visitors that paid for a copy.

And I really have no idea. It's just poorly written. It looks like it was compiled for a 16 bit OS like win 95 or 98, XP is having to run an emulator and I think it has some goofy VBScripting in it too. It may be competing for some odd resource or something, I don't know, and no longer care. I do want to add a lot to it because it only covers a certain way of doing everything - for instance I'm using the 735 booster/mc setup. I want to modify the oil pan the way you did with a skidplate and a temp sender.

Is this all info from the CD? If so, I feel misled. It looks like there are some good photos on there that are more useful than what others on the board have led me to believe.

You should make a zip file of it so others of us can download a backup copy for the one we bought.

Orca is money well spent. I heard a lot to the contrary last year before I bought them, but I wanted to see for myself. Lots of good pics, in fact the reason you can now print the pics in full size was because I called them and asked why you couldn't. Jeremy (forgive me if I called you the wrong name, I'm horrible at that) was on it the day I asked, and less than 24 hrs later it was the real deal.

Even if this thread gets edited, closed, or otherwise - Orca is a good disc, as is the OBD1 disc. Please be honest and get the discs proper, D has made a valid point to leave his link open, as Zionsville would sell more discs if people knew the content was far better than the whiners here bash it as.

It was a gamble in my mind when I got them, and no matter how often I say they are decent whenever ORCA comes up, there's always some wise-ass who bashes on them, more than likely without ever seeing them.

So if either Dwight or Jeremy see this, hope you don't mind this thread, and it might serve to sell more copies if it's left open. To keep things above boards, at least leave some sort of this open, even with limited content or features, so people can make up their own minds on the quality. The product speaks for itself and I bet you sell more to those who are on the fence and listen to the haters.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

From what I can see(just poking around the site), The CD is definetly worth the price to me. Ive done lots of suspension work and even removed/reinstalled motors(one e30 parts car, but mostly newer Mercedes) but in no way see myself as skilled enough to perform the swap totally unguided. I do want a nice clean working swap too, not a hack job(not saying anyones is but im sure their are a bunch out there). I want everything to work and look correct.
Just my opinion. thanks for posting the site a great sneak peek if it does get closed.
Ill probably pick up the CD after I acquire some more parts and get closer to swap time.

Sorry to hear about the problems with XP. I have XP on my laptop and both ORCA & OBD run fine.

I found it really helpful to create "virtual drives" with a program called Magic ISO so that the CD's don't have to constantly be in your drive. This does not circumvent the copy protection, it simply allows you to run the program (and it's MUCH faster) without the physical disc in your CD drive.

I see no reason to buy it, I mounted mine not following anything other than info I compiled from the DOHC thread and Treehouse Racing. The wiring itself seemed like way to much involvement and would have been the only reason I would need it. Aside from hooking up the fuel lines, canister, installing fan and radiator, and bolting down the wiring and plug the Treehouse adapter and go(I hope). Well aside from getting the exhaust done. :D

Ordered mine yesterday. Hell, down to $107 shipped. For that price, it's worth a shot if it's got some useful info.
