    No Fuel, No spark

I have an '87 bmw 325is with a '95 s50 in it. I am certain I have my wiring correct. The motor cranks but the fuel pump never turns on and it never fires. What am I missing here? The motor is well grounded, and I am sure the DME is grounded as well. What is going on? Even tho I am certain I have my wiring correct I would like to compare my wiring to those of whom that have an s50 in there '87 as well. But any help would be great. Thanks.

Have you tried to jumper the fuel pump relay to see if you can turn the pump on manually?

have you actually checked to see if you have spark or not?

you can hard wire your fuel pump so its always on, and see if you can start your car that way.

The power connection at the fuel pump can get a little loose, and only work if you hold it a certain way, so check on that.

also, take a volt meter and make sure that you're getting switched power to the ecu. i think its like pin 6 or 7 on the c101.

I think I found my answer! The crank position sensor is faulty. It read a resistance of 480 between terminals 1 and 2, where as it is supposed to be at 1280 + or - 30. So, going to replace that and pray that it starts when I get my new one.

Well I think I was wrong. Still no start. Got a better reading on my crank sensor, and I checked the coils, they are fine, my fuel pump did turn on and pressure up. Should I check my ecu.

also, take a volt meter and make sure that you're getting switched power to the ecu. i think its like pin 6 or 7 on the c101.
Ignition is getting 12 to 13 volts. I don't know what it could be. Any more hints.

someone please help, I'm stuck. I know my pump wants to work and it can spark, but nothing is working. I tried a different ecu, and it didn't work. What could be wrong? There is a zip tie around the connector that goes to the ecu. You think someone messed with that.

Also, there is another plug that connects to something under my car, it's the connector that is attached with the o2 sensor connector, what does this connect to?

well this same thing happend to me when i blew my fuseable link...

its pretty much behind the right rear fender underneaith all the flooring in the trunk...

i blew that, and had no idea what it was, and had to pay about 200 in labor for them to trouble shoot everything, and finally they found the fuseable link...and that caused the engine to turn over, but never start...

not sure if its the problem, but worth a shot to check...

its a little 50 volt amp that runs from the battery to the front engine bay...

i wish i could tell you more, but thats all Hurless (mecahnics) said to me. He also told me that he had to remove all the flooring in the trunk in order to get to it...

Check the voltage drop on the ICV, I had my crank position sensor and ICV and it wouldnt start. The ICV should be way less than the Crank or Cam Position Sensor. I bet you just switched them, good luck

Forgive me for asking, but what is the ICV again? I never messed with the wiring really, so i don't know how I would have gotten them switch. I'm so frustrated right now, I feel like just tearing the whole thing apart again, but I know I don't want to do it. So depressing.

                          WHAT ECU??

I had the same problem when I was running a silver tag 413 w/EWS

You need the Burgandy/red tag 413/EWS

Not always. There are plenty of ways a silver label ECU can work.

I have the burgandy tagged 413. and the one that the motor came with, neither worked.
