    3.15 Differential?

    I'm considering swapping my 3.73LSD for a 3.15LSD. But I'm curious which e30s came with a 3.15LSD. Anyone know?

I want to make sure because a guy I know is offering to sell me a 3.15LSD for $300 and says it will drop right into the e30.

    Thanks in advance.

3.15:1 sounds like an E36 rear ratio, 3.25:1 is the more commonly used with a E36 or E34 gearbox.

How about a 3.23 from like a M roadster - gets you a finned diff cover too.

Call Joe, he'll hook you up.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

Is it the Viscous unit? M roadsters had 2 differant styles.

How much would Joe sell one for? Do I have to change any of the covers or anything?

3.15 was an E36 ratio, not available in any E30/28 series vehicles I think.

Euro spec M3 Sport Evo came with a 3.15, as did the Euro ZM Coupe. Not sure if either of these made it across the pond though.

I have one in my 85 that I'm looking to swap out for a 3.73 or 4.10. It makes a little noise though, still works great. If you're ever in the La Crescenta area you could take it for a spin and see if you are interested. Already has the E30 cover of course.

I got my 3.25lsd with 83k miles for 175 shipped. But I think I got a killer deal.

Yes it has brand new factory BMW fluid in it. I watched it get put in at the dealer.

To be honest, I have no clue. I just asked Joe for a LSD rearend that was taller than my 4.10 , and this is what he had that was as good as any for my swap project. Price was right, and if I want or need another ratio, I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
