    4 door swap?

I have the opportunity to pick up a 4 door 325e 5 speed...

Would a s50 swap into that the same as into a 2 door?
Is the driveshaft the same length in the 4 door?

    Thanks,
    Dmitri

Yes, just make sure the driveshaft is also from a m20, 5spd car.

Not necessarily. The driveshaft needed depends on what tranny he decides to use.

But to answer the original question, yes the 2-door and 4-door have the exact same dimensions, so the driveshaft is the same between the two.

Yeah, think about it. Think about how much more expensive it would be for bmw to make the 4 door E30's a longer wheelbase than the 2 door. It complicates the production of E30's.

          Thanks for the responses!

The same basic parts in both 2 and 4 door makes sense because it would cost BMW so much more to make everything specific.

I am going to be putting this car on the track, do you guys think it would it be possible and worthwhile with a 4 door if I design a tight suspension?
I think it could be cool, but will the extra weight and dimensions pose a problem?

Any feedback would help greatly in my decision,
          Thanks

yes along with a tight suspension you can kit a full roll cage. the weight isn't going to be that dramatic.

4 doors are a little stiffer, and my 85 4 door is at 2350 currently :) Easy to throw all ur shiz in the back seat to hit the track even with a cage.

4 doors are not any stiffer.

                  I beg to differ:

Who cares which is stiffer? Are you really going to notice?

                      No, but I'm bored.

I will believe it when I see someone who has measured the stiffness of both chassis. Until then it's just guessing.
