E30M50 for senior project

    E30M50 for senior project

    Hey guys what’s up I have an 1987 325is that I am thinking about doing the m50 swap this project will be done for a senior project at my tech school with some help from a few of my skilled trustworthy friends. I have been doing research for about 4 months now and I think I have my list made up but want some info like most people said it can be done in less than a month I think I could do it I have made a list tell me if Im missing anything I also have a question about the booster that is to be used I have seen that an ix booster can be used with the m50 engine will this work instead of cutting the e21 booster
    ~E36 m50 aluminum engine mount arms
    ~e28 535i motor mounts
    ~fan delete kit (from bimmer world)
    ~e34 525i dipstick tube and dipstick
    ~e34 525i oil sump
    ~e34 525i m50 oil pan
    ~e36 throttle cable
    ~e36 radiator hoses 325i
    ~e36 aluminum therm. Housing
    ~m20 temp. sender
    ~stock trans. Or e36 325i trans w. driveshaft
    ~e30 driveshaft
    ~1988 e30 radiator
    ~1988 e30 reservoir
    ~if using the e36 trans. Shifter base and all accessories. Or z3 shifter
    ~e30 reverse light switch
    ~e21 booster (cut rod)
    ~e36 engine harness
    ~OBD 1 conversion
    ~ m50 e30 chassis harness adaptor (or solider wires together with diagram)
    ~high performance water pump
    ~metal cups for trans mounts (or is that only with the e36 tranny?)

    looks like all the basics, i am in the process of putting an m50 in a 89 325i but i decided to go through the motor and change all the gaskets and seals. do you have a motor picked out yet?
    NEED SOME VINYL STICKERS???

      Sounds about right. I did my turbo project for my Senior project in HS...

        no i dont have the motor picked out im gonna go junk yard shopping maby i can get a frotn clip or something like that would simplify that part and i was thinking about trying to find a 1996 but maby 94 for the obd1 now to simplify things i can get a euro-spec but my friend wants to sell the whole car for like 3500 and the cars not worth it its a e motor wit hi heads and i think double vanos i dn i have been looking around here and i can get a whole set up for like 700 if i shop around and just tear it down and do rings and all seals and gaskets i only want to do this until im about 18 and i want to do a turbo set up but thats too expensive for now haha

          if you shop around, good deals will come. I have just about every part for my swap, Motor, Tranny (doing 5 speed swap too) and all the parts i need, and the Steering Rack upgrade for $1500

              i also have alot of parts im going to be selling from a reck i have here at my house but again i have to wait for the snow to start to melt before i can get anything off of that becasue it is outside and i have a dirtbike that im selling and i will have a job soo i think this should go fairly easily well i hope soo
              and i think i may have made many peoples lifes much simpiler than mine had been by doing this thread

                there will be some slight modification to fit your powersteering pump hoses, and you can also use the booster from an IX with a remote resevior so no modding is necessary

                  Use the motor mount that is trapezoid shaped on both sides.
                  I uesd he e34 throttle cable(for M50 of course)
                  And I used the E34 dipstick I just modded the holder to bolt up in the new location. (lust a little cutting and bending.
                  This really was alot easier than I expected and the only advice I san offer is don't get in a hurry.

                    yea thats why i am starting in my sophmore year (i cant spell at all) that way i can have it planned out for my jr. then have it done before i get near my sr. year soo i have until the beggining of a school year in pa to get my parts. maby ill even start during the summer.thanks for the information ill take as much as possable o yea and for the transmition mounts they have the cups that sit on the rubbermounts to reduce movement is that if you use the e36 tranny or the e30 im gonna have the machine shop at my school make those and anything else i need modded CNC goodness i have yet to find something for the remote master reservoir where can i find that just curious

                        i have a motocross bike and many other toys that im putting up for sale like i said i have some time until it has to be done and all the work is done by myself and friends plus i have a 1988 e30 parts car that i can sell alot of parts from. its an auto soo theres parts i cant use
