    lightest motor?

M50, M52, S50, S52... whats lighter? and what does the M20 weigh? Thanks guys

The twin cam engines probably weigh within a few pounds of each other. They're pretty much the same in terms of castings and accessories. The only real difference would be the rotating assemblies, but even then, there won't be a huge difference in weight. I've hefted an M50 NV crank and a S50 crank, and they both weigh a lot (around 46? lbs).

                I'm guessing about 25lbs.

Nah, the stock s50 dual mass flywheel weighs 25 lbs according to JB Racing. I could have sworn the S50 dual mass fly weighs a couple of pounds more than the S52 fly.

Anyway, the difference in weight between a stock single mass M20 (18 lbs, not shaved) is actually closer to 7 lbs, not 25.

your both correct. some later s52's were equipped with lighter flywheels. material was taken off the edge between the dowel. flywheel kinda looks like a like a 6 - square - toothed wheel.

and then theres the s50b32 (euro) which is a couple lbs lighter than that.

                    cheers, jason

There is no way the dual mass fly I pulled off the M50 weighed 25lbs, that sucker was pretty heavy.
