    temp sensor ground?

Is the e30 cluster temp sensor grounded through what it is threded into( the cylinder head)?

just curious if it had to be threded into something grounded to get a decent temp reading. thanks

How about you just solder on a wire onto the temp sensor and ground it on the head or block?

Zionsville has many parts to choose from, but I found them unresponsive and disinterested.

When I was interested in purchasing their "project ORCA mounting components" for $895, they refused to answer any questions about the kit's components, saying that I had to purchase the ORCA CD and that the CD would answer my questions.

Thanks to their steadfast refusal to help me understand exactly what parts they were selling in their package, I elected to research more here and buy my own parts for less than half their price.

                        Thanks, Zionsville!

I don't blame them for not telling you... they are selling the knowledge that they worked hard to learn.

On the other hand, when we put their little splice dealie on ///Mpressive's motor they were way less than helpful when it didn't work due to not being grounded.

I wasn't shopping for knowledge. I was shopping for the parts that they are selling. If I don't know the quality or what type of parts I'm getting, I'm not going to buy. I would expect any consumer to do the same.

The mounts they use... are they M5 mounts or some other mounts? I don't know, and they aren't telling unless you've already spent $1,000 on their products, which, it turns out, are just repackaged BMW parts that could be had for cheaper at the dealership.

After finishing my swap and then looking at the ORCA CD, I'm glad I didn't buy it. At least half of their instructions were either inaccurate or irrelevant.

Anyone who buys this CD at this point in time is wasting their money. There is plenty of information to complete a DOHC swap here on this forum and on the swap Wiki among other places.
