Why are dual valve springs and "beefier" valves an advantage? The M52/S52 stuff is better.

Vanos is better too. It's a very simple system and makes a huge difference.

Anyway, the head you have should fit fine, even though it will probably be at a disadvantage to a stock M52.

I'm not trying to get into a debate. I have an electronic engineering degree, not a mechanical one. I was just curious. My only thoughts on it is that I already have a full motor that I got for an absolute steal. It happens to be a 2.5 non-vanos. I also know where I can get a 2.8 bottom end for free as long as I am willing to remove it from the vehicle. If I have the chance to upgrade from the 2.5 to a 2.8 for nothing other that a little hard work, then it is a no brainer. I just wanted to know if I was going to run into a stumbling block that would prevent it.

I know the vanos system is better. Otherwise they would have trashed the system long ago, but that isn't what was available to me at the time I bought my motor.
