not just that.....different E30s have different sized fuel tanks.

    Early E30 325e/i (up to 8/1987) had a 55L (14.5 Gallon) tank
    Late E30 325e/i (9/1987 and later) had a 63L (16.6 Gallon) tank
    All E30 318s had a 55L (14.5 Gallon) tank

Those late model Super ETA cars can go forever on a tank of fuel

my needle gets really close to the R at around 11 gallons, so thats when i usually fill up. i guess i could get around 70 more miles out of the tank if i take it all the way up to 14 gallons.

we need to know how many gallons of fuel people use up as well to figure out the mpg numbers. that is more reliable than how many miles a tank, cuz people fill up at different points.
As stated a 318i would have a 55L or 14.5G tank prior to any damage. If it has any dents then the capacity goes down.

ooohhhh... haha my 323I owners manual says 55L=12.1 gallons.
but i didnt know that UK gallons are a lil different than US gallons.
so 14.5 gallons... i guess i could drive a bit more before i run out of fuel.

Guess what they are there is imperial and standard measurment.

1 gallon [UK] = 4.54609 liter this is the imperial measurement
          1 gallon [US, liquid] = 3.7854118 liter

Yeah, that's why if you read a British car mag and see MPG figures, you're astounded at the efficiency of some of these new BMWs. But then you realize, there is an imperial and standard measurement.

My old eta did about 200 miles per tank.

S52B32 M3 gets 25-27 per gallon on average. Not sure how many gallons it holds, but it does about 400 miles per tank.

E46 325i does 400+ miles to the tank easy.

That is my experience with BMW gas mileage.

Sounds like the eta needed M50 power to improve gas mileage..?
