Any good ideas for custom wiring harness adapter

I was wondering what is the best way for going about making the custom wiring harness adapter(engine harness to fuse block).

    1. Go to a junk yard and cut both ends off of a car and resoder the new wires into that.

    2. Do they sell universal "male" and "female" wiring harness connectors that are resistant to heat and moisture(kinda like a trailer hitch harness i guess) that would be able to connect and disconnect. Not sure how many wires it would have to hold in the end..15-20 wires?? (or have 3-4 seperate conectors that only hold like 5 wires would obviously work just fine too)

    ..any suggestions??

    Thanks, -Nick

My electrician made a new like oem harness connection by pulling out all the pins from both connectors, and soldering them up and replacing the connector. Looks like it was factory.

That's what I did also. I replaced the e36 motor harness connector with the e30 one.

Got it right first try, too.

I cut the chasis connector off an e36 with plenty of wire length. I then bought the M20 engine side connector from the dealer with the right amount of male pins I needed. I then crimped/soldered on the pins on the ned of the e36 wires that were going to be used and then stuck them into the right spots on the M21 connector.

Here's a pic of it. You can only see the adapter since the other connectors are under the cover.

Yah. I wish there was a better place for it on the pass. side, but that's the most stable area I could find to mount it right now.

I can't wait to drive my car again. It's gone through a lot in the past month.
