Any 24vers running no PS?

I left the PS out of my swap because I like the feel of it, and its less hassel etc. My question is what size belt are you guys running? I had a 42" belt on it and it was really tight and the pulley tensoner's plug thing wasn't in its hole so the pulley was at a slight angle and the belt broke. I filed that little plug thing off and put on a 42.5" belt and it was working like a charm for a few days. But now that the belt has streched its too loose. Should I try another 42" and see how it does without that plug on the pulley? Bahh I wish stores sold the belts pre streched or that dang pulley had more adjustment

I forget what we put on my friends e30. I want to say it was 42.5" He doesnt have that idler pulley above the alternator though. it seemed loose but has held up for like 5 or 6000 miles.

I think the one for stock pullies is a 1420. I have two underdrive pullies so I needed a 1460.
