    RPM help

    Hey guys, sort of a quick question.. just finished the major part of the swap, (86 325es + 93 M50 donor), everything works, (speed, lights,obc,windows,etc.)..
    Still no RPM's on the cluster (not sure which wires to run where - different inputs from different people..)
    Oil level light stays on - prob the same thing- wiring
    Engine temp - where's the plug?? I mean its the one on the radiator, correct?

    theres a coolant temp sensor on the head that you have to change over to the e30 part for it to read correctly

      If you have a 3 wire connector in your glovebox, then the BLACK wire is the signal to the tach


      And, engine temp IS NOT on the radiator, the sensor on the radiator is for the aux fan

        Any idea what the other colors on that plug would be? I have the glovebox out right now, so it wont be hard to look..

          Ok, so the sensor on the head.. But where does it plug into? it should be plugged into the e36 harness..
          And what about the sensor on the radiator??

            the head one gets the brown e30 sensor. There are two spots for sensors in the head and it goes in the back most one. (i beleive the stock m50 one your replacing is black) Plug it right into the e36 harness. Make sure you dont use any tape or any thing to seal it as it grounds to the head.

            The rad sensor you wont have to touch. All it does is tell the aux fan when to turn on. Has nothing to do with the m50.

              Sweet, it'll be the 5th time i'll pull the manifold off, but no worries haha
              As far as the C101 connector.. which wires are for the temp gauge? Since i'm assuming just plugging in the sensor wont be it.. Whats' the difference between the e30/6? All the sensors are plugged in right now in the M50, so wouldnt it be the same thing as swapping the e30 one in?

                    CORRECTION>>> Realized that its the smaller one of the two brown plugs.. The one i need is the single prong, right?

                      ok, i got the tach to work.. Tapped into the black wire behind the cluster, will follow it out tomorrow see where it ends up.. Because i dont have the black wire @ C101..
                      ***Still working on the temp gauge
