So I'm at the point were I'm hooking all the wiring now on my swap. Just a few questions for the pro's.


I think the black cable that is looped in a circle in the picture is the old cable that went to the M20 starter. So I can just remove that one. And the red cable that is by the diag connector in the picture goes to the power distro then right to the starter?
The other small guage wire hooks to the power distro block on the firewall there?

do both these red wires get connected at the starter?

You have the option of running EITHER the E30 starter cable, or the E36 starter cable. If you use the E36 cable, you will have to find a way to connect the E36 starter cable to the E30 + battery cable.

As you can see in the picture, the E30 battery cable terminates in a round piece of lead. You can usually find a battery terminal with a screw post on it that will work, but in my opinion it's just easier to use the E30 starter cable, but you're gonna have to remove the E36 starter / fuse box power cable.

Yes, if you choose to use the E36 starter cable.

Yes. The wire that comes off the diag connector cable first goes to +. The wire paired with the diag connector goes to ground (such as the strut tower like you've already used).

Yes, if you choose to use the E36 starter cable, you'll have the two red wires from the harness box hooked up to the starter's fat lug, and the alternator cable also hooked up at the same place.

Ok got it. Use the E30 starter cable and pull the E36 cable out of the box. Check. thanks

thats what i did! and it doesnt even sound like the starter wants to turn over......

I dont know if its because the wiring adapter is messed up or if its not grounded right or something?....

Today when i hooked up that lil black (+) Wire to the power block. It kept my car running when I had the key off.
