The 318is is really different. I will get my 318is wiring diagram together and post it, then have you other 318is guys take a look and then give it to Addis so he can add it to his site.

The differences are fairly minor in pin assignment / function, I've found for the later cars, but I think the single thing that varies the most is wire color. There's almost always one or more (way more in the case of the 318is) that differs in color from an online diagram OR EVEN THE ETK.Leave a comment:

addis -Cheers-
It seems that every wiring related thread I look at there is somebody bashing my wiring diagram (though it worked fine for me, with two different cars,) yet no body offers any corrected information. I'm just trying to get information out and available, instead of coveting it in an egocentric/capitalistic way.
........... Instead of saying "all wiring diagrams online are wrong" or "addissimo's chart doesn't work," why don't you help your fellow e30ers and update my information, or tell me to fuck off, and I'll save money.

all wiring diagrams on the net are wrong.
not trying to pick a fight, but lets be honest.....there are too many variables. i too have wired a "few" cars. ive noticed alot of differences. i personally have a spread sheet including 5 different types of e30's and 3 different e36's. yes, there are that many differences between years, and i am sure there are more pre 86.
yes, i am one of those guys who preaches to grab a bentley and etm wiring diagrams and figure it out. ITS NOT THAT HARD. and besides, the person who is wiring there car might actually learn something about HOW the car operates. maybe then, we wouldnt get so many hack conversions floating around.
most charts only say wiring color vs. where it goes. they typically dont say where its from, where its going and what does it do. so the person copying the pin chart has no idea what there doing. maybe you could add to your chart what it does. instead of saying "starter".....maybe something like "12v START REQUEST signal from ig switch to starter terminal xxx." or instead of "tach" maybe "engine speed signal from dme to TACH in cluster."
i think its a novel idea to post the wiring pin charts for the conversion. for the record, i have never bashed any specific wiring diagram. i guess i live in a dream world where people who work on cars actually know and care how things work and are not just parts replacers. you can train any chimpanzee to replace parts or follow a pin diagram.
with respect

I used your wiring diagram and the engine fired up on the first try.
For every one person complaining, there's probably 2 or 3 that got the proper information they needed to complete their projects.Leave a comment:
