anyone go to the track on a j-stock setup?

Just looking for some feedback on a 24v swap car with j-stock suspension. I'd like to track my car and I hae j-stock springs/shocks around I was going to throw in there for the track. Any feedback on this setup yet? I mostly read about you guys using ground control, haven't heard too much about the j-stock on 24v cars.

    I'm running a 318is with an S50.

I'm looking for feedback from those with experience here, not so much speculation on how it might feel. Thanks

What size/type tyre are you running with the suspension? You'll be fine with the J-stock kit, it's plenty stiff and has matched valving. I run a IE3/Bilstein and though a bit soft it's fine for trackwork. Braking will be your main issue with the S50, not suspension! :D

edit: I think jason89i has tracked an S52 with the J-stock kit, you might send him a PM

jason uses the IE3/Bilstein combo as well. I've been in his car on track. I felt the suspension was a little loose for track work and I'm basically looking for something more firm. Brakes are e30 m3 rotors, calipers, and HT-10 pads.

      I would be running 225/45/15 RA-1's on 15x8 et20 wheels.

it really depends on driver experience. dave, your experience / smoothness in transitions....you could use some stiff springs.

the h&r /bilstein combo was a good entry suspension. when my experience bypassed that, i added sways. then i moved to ie3 / bilstein 25/22mm. now its 500/650 bilsteins 25/22.

every time ive changed suspension (ok changed cars,) ive been amazed at how much better it was. than after time, (read learning how to drive) ive found the defficiencies in each setup.

dave - whats the spring rate of the jstock? ie3 is something like 375. if your headed out in july to blackhawk, i will sign up and you can see if you like the 500/650. it feels A LOT different than the black s53e30m3.

        cheers, jason

i'll be there too Jason. The j-stock are, according to Doug at Turner:

Progressive rate, 680F and 1026R...They are much more stiff than any other spring I have driven on. I LOVE them on my m3!

I'll have my 318 with the j-stock on it in 2 weeks Jason. We'll have an interesting comparison between the feel of the two cars, but honestly I think it is going to be quite good with the j-stock setup. Hmmm, this is going to be fun

I am probably going to switch to Jstocks with turner's special bilstiens soon. H&R Races are much too soft for me.

Well, my car is a full-weight street car with a buncha junk in the trunk. On a lighter car, they may be OK.

I have also only been driving on the street for a few hundred miles... my opinion may change after I autox or run a few DEs on them.

Which j-stock kit, the turner one? If so, go for it. I love mine on track. Be sure to dump in a bunch of front camber, and the car is a go-kart.

                      Are IE3s better?

I want to skip all this shit and go with coilovers, but I'm not sure I'm ready for that.

not for daily driving, only for the track day.
