Bypassing the coolant to TB route

    Hey.

I was wondering if anyone here has experience with bypassing the coolant flow to the TB on their M50.

    http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...42&hg=11&fg=35

Should i hook up #14 directly to the spiderhose, thusly having continous flow of hot coolant from the head to that hose? or should I cap both sides eliminating flow all together?

    thanks!

Run hose #14 to where #15 connects to the TB, then discard hose #15.

It looks like you are in NJ and heat to the TB is a good thing in the cold winter months.

Hey, I've seen the term "spiderhose" around here before. What exactly is it?

          TIA

It doesnt really matter either way on that one.

If anyone's looking to add a "real" coolant temp gauge, I have an adapter that threads into the same hole as the hose nipple for the TB. I don't think it's on the site, but we have 'em.

Yeah, the plug I have is only for people who have deleted the TB hose stuff... you take out the nipple in the head and screw in the piece I sell you.

It will fit any car on this list: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partxref....0396&showus=on

And any 1/8" NPT temp sender.

$15 with free USPS shipping. They'll be up on the site monday morning.

Before everyone starts complaining that you can get one cheaper, this is a modded new OE piece that is steel and fits perfectly. The ones out on the web are brass and have an o-ring that can tear and leak.

                      Thanks!

thats alright but you can do it safer and cleaner w/ an oil pan bolt. The bold deff won't leak and it looks better. Thats what I did.

Well seeing as how this part of the motor is totally covered I'm not worried about looks.

Don't worry, my American bolt I found in a bucket will last forever. Gasket maker is a bonus but probably overkill.
