Check engine light on after frist drive.

So I took my car on its first road test today. Have about 5 miles on it now. But I have two issues that I need to sort out. I wired the oil level sensor so now the oil light is off on the check control. But the check engine light is on. I checked the fault codes at my work and came up with FC 07 vanos solenoid open circuit or shorted to batt -, and FC 73 Throttle position sensor mechanical fault. Anyone run into these? I'm going to pin out the wires to the DME tomorrow.
    Thanks

Car is a 89 325i with E36 98 S52 with OBD 1 swap red label 413 DME with Eurosport software, 95 obd 1 wire harness.

    Thanks
    Kyle

i wish i could help w your light issue, but would you be so kind as to let me know how you wired the engine oil level sensor, so the light is out?

allegedly, my harness has the appropriate wires tucked in there somewhere, but im unsure as to where they go. (obviously the sensor, but in what manner?)

hey kyle - ive seen a lot of problems with the tps on the converted cars. typically its a bad ground (but you get fault on tps and air intake temp as they share a ground.) not sure what you mean by "pin out the wires to the dme" but i assume you will be checking continuity back to the dme. the bentley also has a nice little write up on how to test the tps. tps pin1=ground, pin2=signal, pin3=power.

did you use the obd2 vanos solenoid? did you splice and extend the lead? might have wires crossed. or, at one time the solenoid got power to the ground. get an obd1 solenoid (has longer whip) and give it a try.

      cheers, jason

Thanks for help Jason! I got it figured out today. I had one of the many two pin connectors in the wrong spot. I found the one with 12v on pin 1 and hooked it to the VANOS solenoid and cleared the fc's light hasn't come back on! Man does it pull above 4k!

Yeah, that'll happen. Getting vanos working is such a kick in the ass compared to not having it.

glad you got it worked out. feel free to pm again for any other help. im here every day.

oddly enough, the vanos works in low-mid range..... unlike the v-tech. it actually kicks in at 2500rpm and turns off around 5500 rpm.

            cheers, jason
