Ok on the factory cooling system the t-stat is external and there is 2 temp sensors mounted in the T-stat housing . I know one is for the aux fan but I am unsure what the second 2 wire black with a red tracer are for THANKS .

It's not for the guage or the DME

Front one is a ENGINE COOLANT TEMP SENSOR
And back the closer to the firewall is a TEMPERATURE SENSOR
The one tells the DME at what temp the motor is running for cold start and value adjustments . and the other is for the fan for cars with AC , if they go bad , the car dose not start or runs bad , i had that prob befor.

Are you looking at the coolant temperature switch that opens when hot? I'm going off memory, but there's a switch that if your coolant is too warm, won't allow the extra load on the motor of the a/c compressor.

I seem to recall it was a black/red trace. It might even have a rubberized cover over the female spade, -does this look familiar?

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

I was thinking it may be for a/c as well . I am in the process of getting the A/C to work . I had hoses made up and sucked it down I am now going thru the A/C wiring then I will charge it up .
