Under 200hp is very poor for even a stock S50 or S52.

Also, all those graphs pretty much suck. Can you have your dyno guy plot HP and torque on the same 0-210 scale please? And RPM on the X axis?

That's a very awkward graph. Not only your air/fuel ratio drops too fast, your torque graph is very, very bad. It should be much more linear and that drop at high end is really unjustified.

Which means, you have a problem somewhere! Check your sensors for starters.

Best run was 209.1 HP I can ask for a better graph .

Hmm, I thought I saw 196 or so. 210 is OK for a stock S52.

Seriously, graph HP and torque on the same scale, that starts at 0 at the X-axis and goes to max hp at the top, and AFR, both as functions of RPM. Those graphs are terribly hard to read.

It's low. I have seen 2.8s with stock injectors make 210 on Turner/JimC software.

Then again, the dyno could be off, the weather could be effecting things... there are always different circumstances.

Yah this car has me stumped . It runs like a raped ape ! But only issue is this ping . I dyno and get lower than average results . Every sensor other than tps is a brand new factory part . I am getting no codes stored in the DME . I really wonder what is going on here but if there is 10% more HP hidden in this problem I will find it !

What dyno were you using? If it was a DynoDynamics (or whatever) then it WILL be low, but if it was like a mustang dyno or a dynojet, then those numbers are definitely low.

I'm not very familiar because the S52 engine never got released in Europe (Europe's M's got the 6 throttle S54 instead of that one), but isn't it supposed to give out 240HP *STOCK*?

I had a wrecking yard send me 2 m50's and one s50 when I ordered an s52 for my swap. Needless to say I canceled with them and sourced elsewhere. You sure you've got the right stuff?

Dynos give you rear-wheel horsepower, which is a measurement of the horsepower at the wheels. You can typically add about 15% for drivetrain losses on a manual transmission BMW. So a stock S52 should put out about 210 rwhp. This also can vary depending on the dyno used, weather condition, whether or not a fan is used in front of the car, etc.

The mods listed typically put out about 230whp, by the way.

I garuntee first off from the looks of that graph that your ECU is cutting back timing to prevent knock. I know when I dynoed my car that was happening. Also what diff do you have and what gear did you run it in? I would definately buy either some race gas or octane booster and then run again and see if that smoothes out your netgraph and helps with your #s. When I dynoed my car I think got 191whp with similar mods, but my ECU was cutting the timing back also.

I see, I thought otherwise because most Dyno's here tell you the flywheel HP, only a couple of Mustang's are available which measure wheel HP properly. But the posted charts say 'flywheel torque' and 'flywheel power' which is somewhat strange?
