    clutch problem

When i finished my swap and started driving it, it had a rattle (sounded like a bearing) from the clutch/transmission from the get go. It was most prominent when the car was in neutral with the clutch let out. I put it off and sure enough, last week, i was driving along and whatever it was, quit and let the car rev freely. It was difficult to get into gear for a moment, and then when it went in, nothing but revving.

When i pulled the transmission out, i found that the spline had actually snapped off the clutch disk itself. Nothing else really seems messed up, though i do have a leaking input shaft seal on the trans even though i replaced it. This is most like caused by an install error but i included it in case its relevant. Also, the throw out bearing was bad from the get go, but my noise was when the clutch was not depressed.

The input shaft itself, has minimal play, which seems to be no worse than i have seen in others. The transmission came out of a car that i recently bought and during the time i drove it, had no issues or noises for that matter. It did have a few leaks so i put new seals in it and filled it with redline.

    Here is/was my setup:
s50 w/ uuc flywheel (the old one that uses stock clutch)
    oem e36 m3 clutch kit
    getrag 260
    new slave cylinder/ss line

Besides the noise, the combo worked brilliantly. It had a nice stiff pedal and gripped like a champ. I guess what im trying to figure out is if the noise is related to the snapped spline. Im leaning towards the input shaft bearing myself but any help would be greatly appreciated! I dont want to throw in another clutch just to have it happen again.

Since i cant really find anything else wrong, im going to assume that the noise and the failure were not directly related and replace the clutch disk, the throw out bearing and re do the seal.

      Maybe a manufacturing defect?
