I love the S3.46 diff with the E36 transmissions.

You also have to keep in mind the higher redline etc. Some people actually run the g260 with a 4.10 and love it. I think that would be a lil short for me, maybe a 3.91. Havent tried either of those yet though.Ya the Mtech currently has a S4.10. If I put a S3.73/260 in the Mtech, it would have the exact same gearing as my coupe currently, wich is a bit too high IMO (80mph is ~3400rpm). I may try to get a S3.46 if I go the 260 route.
Kurt, are you running a 260 or ZF? Do you know what Jeff is running?
I am running the G260 with a 3.73. Jeff is running the same, except he has an 325e cased 260. Shift linkage is vastly different.
Oh and look at my sig, its Curt. :)sigpicComment

You get used to the higher rpm, its a bmw thing. :) Besides, you want to maximize every gear right? Why would you need to go any faster then 130 mph? I think thats top end with a 3.91 and a 260. I was at 5500 in 5th at 130 mph.sigpicComment

oops, my bad Curt! I am going to drive Jeff's car sometime next week so I can get a feel for it.
I'm not trying to get max speed, god knows I"ll never see north of 130 even at PIR :) But really low gearing does make for uncomfortable highway driving, which I do a lot of.Comment

know I'm late, but you can also find a shop that installs used engines, this is my free obd1 swap x 2 from leftovers when my shop put a new engine in an e36 325is. and then another one a few months later.

disregard unrelated b20 vtec oil adapter, and NV m50 VC.Comment

I guess I'll get a chance to check it out next week and see how I like it. I'm thinking that 3000@60 is geared too way too low for my tastes though. I'm aiming for more like 3000@75Comment

Ya it's a shitty trade off. I live having the low-end, and I don't need top-end power (I've never taken this thing over 110) but I would like to be able to cruise on the highway without r3ving my engine.Comment
