i also passed emissions with flying colors, it was pretty cool. I wasn't really sure what was going to happen once they put it on the rollers. WI is a tough state for emissions and I have to go every 2 years! I think I'm going to get a renewal for emissions in the mail this year, better put the cats back in!

I was worried too when I took my car for testing.

They drove on the rollers, started the test and the emissions were so low, the car was given a "fast pass" and the test abruptly ended.

            Good for two more years.

            Ahhh. So nice.

Yea, it 'fast passed' too, they were going to put it on the dyno, but i think it was a bit low and the exhaust might have been touching.

I'm wondering if they are going to honor the 20 year rule for emissions here in the communist state of maryland. If so, I wont have to get this done anymore.

Never happen. I was shocked when they went from one year requirement to two years.

FWIW - I have an e28 M5. For 5 years I never got an emissions notice for it. I was about to turbo it so I took it to the emissions station thinking if I don't get it tested and get a notice in a few weeks, I'm screwed.

When told the story, the manager at the station said he knew of a few people like me and advised me not to test it as "it will then be in the system."

I tested it anyway and it passed (non turbo).

One year later I got an emissions notice. Knowing it would NEVER pass now, I didn't even bother and the registration was revoked.

Now three years in the garage and under 1/2" of dust.

I'm an idiot and yes, I hate living in Maryland.

Why the hell won't it pass now? Put a cat on, get it tuned right and go back.

Can you get the car registered at a PO box in Allegany or Garrett county Maryland? Cause if it is regisered in one of those two countys they don't have emissions, only visual inspections when you first buy the vehicle. Or you can get Historic tags and have no inspection or emissions.

I'm 98% sure that Allegany does not have emission testing (i'll ask my grandfather when i go in to see him if there is). Cause alot of people when they buy their car over there and go and get it inspected, it will pass the visual inspection. Then they go home a chop off the cat and start to mod the car/truck. And for the guy with the e28 m5, if it is old enuff get a set of historic tags for it.

EDIT: i checked and Allegany county and Garrett county Maryland does not have emission test.
