A friend of mine has been driving an E36 m3 for about 3 years now and has grown tired of the motor. I have been driving an E30 325is for about a year now and was looking for a lot more power. I had been thinking about a swap since I bought the car. I was talking to him today and he told me that he was looking to do a s54 motor and new 6 speed tranny swap. He also told me that his old motor with less than 50000 miles on it would be up for grabs. He said he would give me the motor, tranny, wiring harness, accesories, and DME if I would help him do his swap. I graciously accepted but later realized I don't know what I'm getting into.
So with all that said I need help. I know someone here has done this swap before. What else do I need? How much will it cost? And what will need to be custome fabricated? I have a good amount of technical know-how and will be doing all of the work myself. So please post any tips or links to similar build-up pages.
