    Longer Throttle Cable?

I'm posting this here because I think this group may know the specifics...

I need to know if the E36 or E30 M42 throttle cable is longer than the stock E30 M20 throttle cable and if so by about how much?

I need a slightly longer throttle cable for the turbo M42 with an M20 throttle body in a custom position and the stock M20 cable is a bit too short.

    Thanks,

    Rob.

E30M3 cable is longer than the stock E30 M42 cable. Not sure about how much longer as I don't have the M42 cable anymore.

I used the E36 cable, once installed I realized that the M42 cable would of worked as well.

As a matter of fact the E36 cable was a bit too long, I had to shorten it!

Sorry to bring this back from the dead...

But I ordered the E36 throttle cable because I thought I had to get matching stuff for the motor..

How did you shorten yours? Do you think it can still work even if its a bit longer?

I've seen others getting E34 throttle cables and I'm curious to know what the difference is!

Did some more reading on the site and found out the E36 throttle cable works as well!

                Thank you :)

For a 24v swap? No. It's too short. I ran the m42 cable, it's a good length, easy to position.

Swing wild, brake later, don't apologize.

M20 cable its actually long and u will need a small spacer for it to work on a 24V.
Ive converted about 6 E30s to 24V's they all used stock cables.
                        2 M42's
                        4 M20's.

ALL STOCK CABLES! On a 91 318's It fit Perfect. No spacers were needed.

I'm using an E34 cable, it works fine but there's got to be a better option out there. It kind of collides with the iX booster.

did you put the cable in before you put the motor in or could i put the motor in and if it is to long or short put the e34 cable in with out taking the motor out again?

Dude, throttle cables aren't THAT complicated, of course I put the motor in first.
