quick ? re s50 from auto swap into 5 spd car

Not sure on this...and my knowledge is still limited. Are any/many addt'l parts needed to put an s50 from an auto into my e30 5 spd car. I would get a ZF e 36 tranny for the swap......I was assuming/hoping it was no big deal.

I have my mind set on more power for the car and have been looking at m 20 strokers, m50 ,s 50 etc...

    thanks!

No extra parts needed ...other than the flywheel/clutch/shif parts of course .

DME is the same as the auto has its own computer and the harness just has extra wires that you can eliminate or not mess with .

      You'll need a pilot bearing.

I am running an S52 which originally came out of an automatic car. The advantage of an engine from an automatic car is that there is a far better chance that it wasn't over-revved/money shifted or abused.

However, if I may stereotype, perhaps *some* automatic drivers may not be as enthusiastic about their cars and thusly may neglect some routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes... :tsk:

              :p

For the record, when I took off the valve cover and oil pan the engine was damn near clean enough to eat off of. So perhaps the stereotype doesn't apply to M3 drivers, or we can attribute this to the miracles of synthetic oil.

I had a buddy pull a service record for the car and it had always been done at a dealer and synthetic oil was used....

I have an auto engine as well for the same reasons. less chance of driver error and the car being tracked and beat on.

I also used an auto obd1 wiring harness as my starting point when i made my own wiring harness.
