you could get all that stuff for $1k with a little patience and luck. Maybe more if youre really set on an aluminum radiator.

I bought a 93 525i running for 600.00 and used the obd1 oil pan harness ecu and loads of other stuff . Then sold the shell for 600 to a local yard .

        as usual it's a tradeoff between: money-time-effort

i'd say there is no rush as the spring is still far away.

same boat for me...bought an m50 off a 525i and used all the components to convert my s52 into obd1 including the oil pan-$450 for the motor(sold long block for $350)...

be patient and buy when parts pop up on here,ebay,e30tech or bfc...
also,no need for the project orca cd etc-all info on the swap is on here-tried and prooven...gl

alright.....i guess you guys are right, ill get stuff here and there, im not rich either id rather not drop that kind of money. the oly thing i think is worth buying is the obd1 conversion, im not even sure what a parts list for it is anyways, anyone know? 1500 bucks doesnt seem that bad.

Buy a full complete obd1 m50 with all the components and you will be set and for a lot less money and youll have your oil pan parts if you get it out of a 5 series. It dosnt even have to be running.

Ps. are you from windsor, CT? im about an hour from there.

sourcing parts will save you a good deal of money, despite the time put in to looking for them. it's totally worth it...in my parts search i even came upon a 3.5 hfm($35), m50 intake mani w/t-body($65), e34 oilpan($35)...basically u can get parts way cheaper at the junk yard then what u will pay for the same stuff from Zionsville

i guess ill start searching part by part then, im from windsor ontario canada, not CT. i might do just that im sure i can find an m50 out of a 525 for cheaper than the $900 kit they sell. never thought of that....

I suggest a shop that installs used engines, my shop did two 325is' and I sourced all the parts off the floor of my shop for free. I ordered the 525i m50 engine and swapped pans off the e36.

                            Very true.

I have almost all the swap parts incl. OBD1 swap stuff and minus a DME and i've just topped $550. Mind you i got some really good deals, like ripping this guy soo bad on CL for the 525i pan. He knew nothing about it so i only ended up paying $25 for the "Useless piece of metal"

                            Waiting for parts FTW.

so its probably still cheaper to order from the dealer? i do get discount, usually 5% over cost.
